EMShocknet

Mission Statement

EM Shock Net – The Emergency Medicine Shock Research Network is a US research network focusing on clinical issues related to the pathophysiology, diagnosis, risk-stratification, and treatment of various forms of shock, particularly septic shock and undifferentiated shock. It is comprised primarily of emergency and critical care physicians and the major activity of this network is conducting large multi-center observational and interventional research studies.

The mission of EM Shock Net is to improve the care of critically ill and injured patients primarily through research innovations. The majority of the research conducted by the Network takes place in emergency departments and intensive care units in acutely ill patient populations.

Although Emergency Medicine is a relatively new specialty of medicine, the goal of this network is to place promising researchers in the arena of shock research in the optimal position to discover novel diagnostic and treatment modalities that will positively impact the care of emergency department patients.
